Examination mode

I shall from this point forward not feel inclined to apologise for my absence. Daily blogging...as wonderful as it sounds is something that at the moment shall take a while to get back in to. Currently in the IB, currently ending year 12, currently preparing for a himalayan trek...posts will be minimal.

However i do hope that over the course of Summer 2014 I am able to share a lot of up comings and day-to-day views! This week is 'mock week', translation: 'hell'. The average student in exam times sits an exam every 2 days however JIS compresses IB mocks into the course of 1 week and so we sit approximately 2-3 2 hours exams a day: stress. (Sort of ironic how I have the time to write in the week where i have the least amount of time)

I will continue to post, however it will be a little less constant depending on whats happening in this little country. But as promised I will share my latest intrigue i came across:

A ted talk relating to the fragility of the barrier between life and death from a man that has seen people cross it willingly.

Speak soon,
Amelia

The Irony

I realised that by calling myself a nomadic teenager whilst naming by blog 'ameliaSITED' probably is a little paradoxical...My nomad element is because I am an expatriate currently in Borneo, originally from the UK. The blog itself is on the internet which is (in some respect) a cloud, a platform that doesn't have a specific location and therefore i can be sited on here. (Also its a webSITE, so i guess there is an unintended pun...)

I feel a little embarrassed that I have already missed a day because I do blog when I want to and not because I have to! Today I made the miraculous Discovery that there was a timing option :O Write now and post later, so that will be very helpful for sure. Today was an average college day. It started off well with a very intriguing conversation about 'bad' and not necessarily linked 'pseudo' science. e.g. Feng Shui, Telepathy in Theory of Knowledge. I sacrificed my lunch time in order to sell some 'World Water Day' ribbons for a $1 each. Even though WWD was on the 22nd of March, we were on 'break' so the union I am in decided to make use of it anyway and organise events on Wednesday for fundraising. We are building a water system for a community in Sabah, Malaysia in October, so money raise will be going towards this. My day-at-school ended with a lot of June visa paperwork for a trek to the Indian Himalayas for my Gold Duke of Edinburgh.

However one interesting event was that the sun appeared to have a circular rainbow surrounding it. In order to try convince myself the world wasn't falling in to an apocalyptic state, or that extraterrestrial intelligence wasn't visiting, i researched. Turns out is called a 'circular halo'. "It is simply caused by sunlight passing through ice crystals in cirrus clouds within the Earth's atmosphere. The crystals bend direct sunlight, projecting it elsewhere into the sky, and at a certain angle". And apparently it is most common in colder climates or Autumn, Winter or Spring seasons...making it very unusual for we are living in the tropics...Nevertheless it was cool. (Global Warming!?)

Goodbye for now,

"The Tumblr Side"

Murad Osmann Inspired 'FollowMeTo' photo

I am pretty certain that judging from my first post, Ive come across as someone fascinated by science...and only science. This is FAR from the truth.
I definitely have an inner stereotype side to me, the type that loves to admire beach photography and the silhouette of a 'toned body', or a cocktail on the beach. As cliche and typical of a teenage girl it is to like this, its completely true. I have a tumblr and this is what it consists of: beaches, sunsets, people with stories or faces that intrigue me, general photography which makes me stop and admire. After posting an introduction to this blog I realised i hadn't shared my other 'internet side', the side that is curious about easy living and no responsibilities, the side that researches the latest house concert, the new 'triangl' bikini, the 70% off sales in ASOS. This side isn't what defines me at all, simply another side and in order for me to express myself, these sides will continue to reveal themselves I'm sure hahaha.

So...After scrolling through my tumblr newsfeed I found images that today made me look and wonder, to places I hadn't been, places I wish to go, or people I wish to meet. Hopefully you appreciate these images like I did. Particularly the first one where a girl is holding the hand of the photographer, this is inspired by a trend of photos whereby a couple: The photographer Murad Osmann and his girlfriend take  pictures in fascinating locations, there is a video lookbook along with them . The trend has caught on and hundreds of couples take them much like the one below and has been named 'Project followmeto'. (news article below)

I can't say I'm a photographer, I only ever post average day-to-day photos, but I am certainly a photo enthusiast and one day I certainly hope to see myself admiring art in a local gallery, because amateur photography is something that can never truly be taken for granted.

Goodbye for now,
Amelia

Introduction

As much as I would like to say I will stay 'faithful' and 'loyal' to the ways of a daily blogger, this is most likely not going to be the case. Blogging has always intrigued me, from when I was 12 and had a blog that i did in fact continue for 2 years, but then as my work load increased and my life became a little more hectic the blogging decreased to the point to which it was non existent.

I suppose some of you, or maybe even just one, are curious as to why I am trying to begin this process again. I am currently a 16 year old student in the International baccalaureate diploma studying abroad in the country of Brunei Darussalam. The exponential amount of thoughts and ideas that I would want to share with a world have lately been a little hard to contain, hence my decision to start a blog. A true nerd at heart, my thoughts can sometimes be a little radical and sometimes a bit farfetched but thats what excites me. Aspirations that are constantly changing and at the moment are focused within the field of forensic neuroscience, can be pretty perplexing but once again something that makes me, well me.

I also like the idea of a life blog, sharing your life through words is something that is pretty valuable, excluding the likes of social media, a blog is more an art than a way to 'update' your peers on what you are eating are what you 'should be doing'.

Through this blog I hope to design a platform where I can share photos, ideas, messages, aspirations, videos, quotes, experiences etc that inspire or are important to me without judgement or social circles of people I already know first hand, but sharing and reaching to people on an international foreground. I am not a very 'deep' person, as i have been made aware through theory of knowledge classes and my boyfriend claiming 'I need more soul', So i cannot predict that this blogging journey will always be particularly philosophical but i can always promise "genuine-ity"(Its sad there isn't a verb for the act of being genuine...), i suppose for now the best synonym would be honesty.
Honesty In what i like, how i feel and what interests me.

Today was definitely a rather 'academia' focused day: shifting through a pile of psychology assessment write ups and trying to locate a biology research paper, whilst emailing the school about fundraising on wednesday and discussing my extended essay with my supervisor. My extended essay is on the topic of 'biological mitigating factors' and to what extent they can be used as excuses in court. I am filtering through research and content to use in it at the moment, I came across a TED talk today that was particularly interesting, something I will share. 'The neuroscience of Restorative Justice'. Whenever I end up on the TED site I do get a little carried away with all the fascinating concepts on there, so I won't share it but i will provide a link: I watched on microchips acting as 'cell environments' and possible uses for drug testing etc. Really very interesting :)

That will be all I will write for today,
I hope that I am able to continue sharing through this source
Goodbye for Now,

Amelia
